John E. Biersdorf Library
The John E. Biersdorf Library is named for ETS's first Dean and President. Active collection development began in 1995 with approximately 3,000 donated books. With the support of many donors throughout the metropolitan area, the collection has now grown to approximately 25,000 books and 100 journal subscriptions. Most especially, the library has benefited from the McGregor Fund's generous financial support.
The Library is rapidly building collection specializations in African-American Christianity, Black theology and the historic Black churches, urban ministry in the 21st century, and feminist and womanist theology. Other strengths of the collection are in Biblical studies, historical theology, contextual theology, preaching, worship, prayer, spiritual care and counseling, church administration and leadership, and American cultural and religious history.
The Biersdorf Library also serves as a gateway to the wider world of information for research and study, by providing on-site and online access to the Internet and major database resources for ministry.
