Doctor of Ministry Admission Process

Normally, a Master of Divinity or an equivalent Master’s degree in a theological field is required for admission to the Doctor of Ministry program.  If your Master’s degree is not the equivalent of a Master of Divinity degree, you may be required to take courses on the Master’s level before beginning the doctoral program.

Please submit the following information:

1. Application and non-refundable application fee of $35.00 MUST BE PAID AT TIME OF APPLICATION SUBMISSION. Please follow this link for electronic check or credit/debit card payment Application Payment, or you have the option to pay in person or by mail at 2930 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201.  
2. Research paper, Graduate level. Theological topic required.
3. Stepping Stones: personal journey to and in ministry.
4. Recommendation letter from your ministry context supervisor.  This can be your governing body, the board of your church, or your immediate supervisor, depending on your denominational structure and the ministry work you are currently engaged in.
5. Two additional letters of recommendation.
6. Official transcripts; all previous undergraduate and graduate studies transcripts are to be mailed directly from your undergraduate and graduate institutions. Student-issued transcripts are not acceptable.

Items 4-6 must be submitted in sealed envelopes.

All documentation for application to the Doctor of Ministry Program must be received at least two months prior to the beginning of the term for which you are applying. Once your application materials have been received, you will be required to schedule an interview with the Program Director to evaluate your admission file.  The final decision of acceptance will be made by the Doctor of Ministry Admissions Committee.

Normally, admission to the Master of Divinity and the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.  While some theological education is helpful, it is not required.

Master of Divinity Admissions Process

2. Research paper with references. Theological topic preferred - Sample 5-10 page paper from college. 
3. 3 Letters of recommendation.
4. Official transcripts mailed directly from your undergraduate or graduate institution. Student-issued transcripts are not acceptable.

An interview with Program Director may be required based on an evaluation of your completed admission file. The final admission decision will be made by the Master of Divinity Admissions Committee.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry Admissions Process

Please submit the following information:

1. Application and non-refundable application fee of $35.00 MUST BE PAID AT TIME OF APPLICATION SUBMISSION. Please follow this link for electronic check or credit/debit card payment Application Payment, or you have the option to pay in person or by mail at 2930 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201.  
2. Research paper - Sample 5-10 page paper from college. 
3. Three letters of recommendation.  These may be from pastors, co-workers, professors, fellow parishioners, or anyone else qualified to speak about your academic abilities or your spiritual gifts.
4. Official transcripts mailed directly from your undergraduate or graduate institution.  Student-issued transcripts are not acceptable.

An interview with Program Director may be required based on an evaluation of your completed admission file.  The final admission decision will be made by the Master of Arts Admissions Committee.
