ECUMENICAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
Many traditions. One Spirit.
Rev. Dr. Robyn Diane Moore, frequently referred to as Rev. Robyn, is afforded many opportunities to being committed, obedient and faithful to her ministry. The heart of her ministry is based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13 where Paul teaches the importance of love just as Christ loved us. She focuses on demonstrating love to all but particularly to the oppressed, those forgotten, disenfranchised or voiceless. Additionally, she is passionate about sharing the gospel with those who feel disconnected or who are unaware of God’s true presence. Often gathering people of all ages in her home to encourage embracing the Gospel, Rev. Robyn believes ‘that you must meet people where they are, then you can nurture and guide them to see God’s true purpose for their lives’.
Reverend Robyn is a native Detroiter and graduate of Detroit Public Schools. She currently lives in Oak Park, Michigan. She is a full time employee of Xerox Corporation celebrating nearly twenty-seven years thus far but has been led by the Holy Spirit to transition into full time ministry.
Understanding God’s call and purpose for her own life, Rev. Robyn completed a ten month extensive training (2002) and then ordained to the Hartford Memorial Baptist Church Deacon’s Ministry. She was later licensed and ordained to ministry under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Charles Gilchrist Adams during October, 2008/09. Her training has included an awe-inspiring opportunity to complete her ministerial internship under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Dee Dee Coleman at Russell Street Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, MI. Rev. Robyn currently serves as the Youth/Young Adult Minister and Worship Liturgist, as well as one of ‘a six minister staff team’ at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church. She also has served faithfully in Hartford’s Women Ministry as the Chaplain and Outreach Coordinator.
As a recent graduate of the Ecumenical Theological Seminary (ETS) in 2016, Rev. Robyn holds a Doctor of Ministry degree. Her research focused on the non-active participation of young adults in worship and titled her dissertation, Broken Chains: Reconnecting Links of Young Adults to Church Settings. Previously, she earned the Master of Divinity degree in 2013. She is now involved in consultant work assisting churches develop young adult ministries. Rev. Robyn serves as the ETS Alumni Association President and on the Board of Directors at ETS. Additionally, Rev. Robyn’s role on the board includes chairing the Church and Community Committee.
Inclusive of the many affiliations Rev. Robyn is involved in, she is passionate about her work within the Interfaith Communities including International Fellowship for Christians and Jews, American Israel Public Affairs Committee and the Interfaith Leadership Council. She is the youth director for Michigan Progressive Baptist Churches and works with American Baptist Churches of Michigan including serving on the Regional Executive Board as Chairperson of Family Ministry Team and Detroit Baptist Union. She supports young girls and women as the Clergy Advisor on the Religious Relations Committee of Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, African American/Jewish Women Alliance and in the local church and community. Rev. Robyn is also a member of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Greater Vicinity.
Through pastoral care, Reverend Robyn enjoys helping others have clear communications with the "God of their Heart" by fulfilling the commitment of cultivating, counseling and encouraging others. She loves walking in the early morning hours where she can meditate, give praise, and pray to the Almighty God. On a personal note, Rev. Robyn is passionate about her shoe shopping, zumba exercise, and bowling; but most importantly spending time with her three children, Alyson (age 24), Dean II (age 22), and Alexis (age 19).
