Letter to the Community  from the Office of the President
To the Members of the Ecumenical Theological Seminary Community,
I am delighted to invite you to participate in our 2017 Commencement Weekend coming up on the first weekend of June.  This year, we celebrate twenty new graduates of our diploma and masters degree programs at Ecumenical Theological Seminary over the course of our evening Baccalaureate Worship Service and our morning Commencement Ceremony.  These ceremonies events will have keynote addresses by the two women who are receiving honorary doctorates this year from Ecumenical Theological Seminary, The Rev. Dr. DeeDee Coleman and The Rev. Dr. Serene Jones.
Friday, June 2 at 6:00 PM in the Sanctuary of Ecumenical Theological Seminary, please join us for worship led by the Rev. Dr. DeeDee Coleman, Senior Pastor of Russell Street Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit and the first woman to be elected President of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity.  A reception will follow the worship service in the Renaissance Room.
Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 AM, please join us for our 37th Commencement Ceremony. The Commencement Speaker will be The Rev. Dr. Serene Jones, President and Johnston Family Professor for Religion and Democracy at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and Past President of the American Academy of Religion.  Along with celebrating the extraordinary achievement of our graduates, Dr. Coleman and Dr. Jones will receive their honorary doctorates at the Commencement Ceremony.
All are welcome to attend both the Baccalaureate Worship Service and Commencement Ceremony.  If you plan to come to Baccalaureate night, we ask you to RSVP so that we can plan appropriately for the reception:
We hope you will join us for this most wonderful weekend
