Dr. Corletta J. Vaughn has served as  Senior Pastor of the Holy Ghost Cathedral Church of Detroit, Michigan for 36 years, and is the Presiding Bishop of Go Tell It Evangelistic Ministry, Worldwide Network of Churches. For more than 45 years, she has poured herself into the lives of congregations, schools, and community organizations by uncompromised powerful preaching and teaching of the Word of God both nationally and internationally, bringing hope to the hopeless.

In addition to 48 years of global ministry as preacher and teacher, in 2018 Bishop Vaughn was elected as Board Trustee in the Detroit Public School Community District. Serving these past four years, she has advocated for the education of the children of our district, as well as the improvement of climate and culture. Keeping in mind whole development of children, she has endeavored to serve the family’s mental, , emotional, and spiritual needs.

The DPSCD Board is primarily a policy board, creating and adopting the policies that govern the District. As a 48-year Faith-Based and community leader, she has gone beyond the policy table, becoming deeply entrenched in the community. The needs of our children are greater than policy and curriculum, by engaging the larger community of Faith Based leaders and stakeholders, she has advocated for more volunteers in the schools from churches, synagogues, mosques and temples, and launched “Expect Respect” a campaign against bullying.

During her tenure, Dr. Vaughn has strengthened and enlarged the DPSCD Faith Based Council, led increased awareness around human trafficking, and engaged philanthropy dollars to secure 12,000 coats which were given to our homeless population. There were entire families that needed a warm coat for winter, and she helped to establish a 24-hour emergency center in one of our buildings to help with emergency food, shelter and clothing for the entire district.  She adopted the slogan: “A Cold Child CANNOT Learn!”  Pastors, Iman’s, Rabbi’s, and Bishops gave over $10,000 and HAP gave $100,000 during the pandemic.

Bishop Vaughn is the mother of two beautiful - gifted daughters; Shannon an assistant Principal at Fraser High School, and Aprille, retired USN Chief and Chaplain, and proud grandmother to Allan Harris, and Godmother to 50,000 DPSCD children.
