Kizzy Busch-Boyd

Kizzy Busch-Boyd is a passionate teacher, minister, and civil and social service program and project manager, with a demonstrated history of community outreach to and advocacy for diverse and at-risk populations. Kizzy completed her undergrad at Wayne State University (B.I.S., 2011), received her Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Calvin Theological Seminary (Grand Rapids, MI; 2017), and has a forthcoming Ph.D. in the area of Homiletics and Liturgics at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN). There, she earned a minor in Religion in the Arts and Culture, became a certified Homiletic Peer Coach through the David G. Buttrick Certificate Program in Homiletic Peer Coaching (funded by the Lilly Endowment), and is a Fellow in the Program of Theology and Practice.

As a proud native of Detroit’s urban fringes, Kizzy’s research interests surround homiletic theory and pedagogy which take seriously the lived experiences of the super-marginalized poor in urban communities. As an instructor, Kizzy is committed to “making space” for life and God’s response to all that makes us human.

Kizzy is mother to four daughters and one son and loves Olympic weightlifting and a good soy candle!
