Associate Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling

Dr. Urias H. Beverly graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a BA in Psychology, Butler University with a MS in Counseling, and Christian Theological Seminary with an MDiv and a DMin specializing in Pastoral Care and Counseling. He has pastored four different churches in Indianapolis, including one United Methodist Church and a non-denominational (which he founded) and one American Baptist Church in Livonia, MI.

In addition to parish ministry, he has pursued a career in pastoral care and counseling.  He was a hospital chaplain for twenty years and taught Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) for more than forty years.  He served the national President of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).  He is the director of the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program and professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit. He has written one book; The Places You Go: Caring for your congregation from Monday to Saturday.
