Clinical Pastoral Education
(CPE) Extended Unit

"ACPE-accredited CPE is an experience in process education which has been shaped by history and yet remains responsive to the present-day cultural developments which will affect your pastoral formation. The heart of ACPE certified CPE is your ministry with people and learning from that ministry through reflection, discussion, and evaluation with other students and your educator. In your ACPE certified CPE experience, you will utilize verbatims (in the form of Pastoral Care Reports), case studies, and other ministry descriptions to present your ministry to supervision.
You also will be part of a dynamic learning group with other students and your educator, which will provide opportunities for mutual supervision, care giving, challenge and appreciation." https://acpe.edu/education/cpe-students/faqs

D MIN CPE
Chaplain Track

The Professional Education and Leadership Concentration within the D.Min. focuses on students with CPE experience. It is intended for those with 4 units of CPE who want to focus their dissertation on thier spiritual care context.
The program of study is developed within the experience of a colleague group. Intensive experiential colleague groups provide the setting in which students and faculty will learn, teach, and pray together. The theory and praxis of ministry grow together through personal vulnerability, mutual support, and confrontation, thus modeling faithful and effective ministerial leadership.

A PILOT PROJECT FOR A CPE D.MIN FROM ETS WOULD BE ATTACHED DIRECTLY TO THE ACPE CERTIFICATION PROCESS
The idea is that the D.Min would be awarded at the end of ACPE Phase 1 for Certified Educator Candidates. This means that the Theory papers and the rubrics required for completing phase 1 would constitute the Dissertation for the D.Min.
Student and Training Educator apply as a team.
